You do not need to discuss the skateboard documentary, but you may as there are several interesting sociological aspects to that film. Ideally, you significantly and meaningfully discussed both in your feedback paper, in which case, feel free to discuss either documentary, or discuss some common themes.

1) Jack Johnson: There is much that could be written here.  Again, if you did much of your feedback paper on Jack Johnson, do one of the other two comments.  However, Jack Johnson said, “I have found no better way in avoiding race prejudice than to act with people of other races as if prejudice did not exist.”  Do you think this was a useful way for Johnson to fight racism?  Is it still a useful way to fight racism today? Can this be done?

2) There are so many interesting and frustrating aspects of the times and society surrounding Jack Johnson.  What items stuck out to you? Items to consider: Jim Crow laws, universities/colleges and work place being the primary organizers of sports teams with Blacks virtually shut out of both, evolution of boxing (introduction of gloves, rounds, etc), gambling and prohibition, Constitutional changes and the Progressive Era, The Mann Act, etc.

Alternatively, feel free to discuss meaningful themes you identified with in either documentary.
